Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why do I have to register for the meeting?
Registering for the meeting is how you receive instructions for logging into the Zoom meeting.
When should I register for the meeting?
As soon as possible. Please do not wait until the last minute.
What if I don’t register for the meeting?
Registration will be open until the reorganization meeting has ended. While registering in advance is not required, it’s recommended.
I am unable to attend the meeting and want to give someone my proxy, but I’m unsure who is an eligible voter. Where can I get this information?
You can call the Marion County Democratic Party Headquarters at (317) 637-3366 and we will help.
How exactly do I request a proxy?
If voter John Smith is unable to attend the meeting and chooses his friend and fellow eligible voter Jane Smith to carry his proxy, John would need to send an email to Marion County Democratic Party Secretary LaDonna Freeman at: email@example.com and include his name, his voter number, and Jane Smith’s name as the person who he designates to carry his proxy by March 6th, 2021 at 8 AM. (John needs to let Jane know that she has his proxy!)
I don’t have a computer or I prefer to call into the meeting instead of joining with Zoom video, is that an option?
Yes – Zoom allows participants to call in and we will have an option for voters to vote over the phone. In order to get the call-in number, you can register at www.IndyDemocrats.com/Reorg (remember to keep the paper with your voter number, you will need it to vote.) If you have difficulty in registering or are unable to, please call the Marion County Democratic Party Headquarters at (317) 637-3366.
DO NOT CALL MARION COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY HEADQUARTERS TO VOTE-You get the voting phone number when you register.
Another person in my household is also an eligible voter but we only have one computer, how can we make sure we both vote?
More than one computer is not required for both voters to cast their ballot – when voting opens, take turns filling out the ballot with your information.
How long will the reorganization meeting take?
The length of the meeting is dependent on how many candidates file for each position, but the meeting should be concluded by noon.
What if I lose or forget my voter number?
Don’t lose your voter number – take a picture of it so you have it in your phone. But if you do, call the Marion County Democratic Party Headquarters at (317) 637-3366. Voters who are missing their voter number during the reorganization may vote by voice vote upon confirmation of information.
Will this election be conducted via secret ballot?
